spent the last few days chilling with cherie's boyfriend, johnny, which were a whirlwind of unexpected fun! we got along swimmingly, sharing an encyclopedic knowledge of simpsons trivia and a lust for adventure. it was cool to have a toronto homie here as kind of a constant running inside joke :)
we went out for breakfast, walked along the beach and went skating/biking the first day, hit fresh choice and the mall the second day before going up to campus, wandering around some trails and playing frisbee on the sunny cowpatch overlooking the ocean. tuesday we partied at the brewery and cardiff and were getting ready to leave, but couldn't find johnny. figuring he was a street-wise dude, we figured he would find his way home anyway. he showed up a couple of hours later saying the last thing he remembered happening was having an older lady buy him a drink, then waking up on someone's lawn with no memory in between!
no harm done, i guess! he was still down for surfing all day yesterday, which was not the most successful venture, but fun as shit anyway. we paddled around and tried to stand up and even semi-caught a couple of waves. we felt super cool walking around barefoot with boards on our heads and he went home with a sunburn :)
derby has been a bit hairy today with one surprisingly annoying are-you-angry-at-me? conversation and some minor shiftiness at large. otherwise, progressing well and enjoying the burn. proud of myself :) :) :) but must buckle down and find gainful employment soooon!
